KUALA LUMPUR: The invitation extended to sacked Umno leaders Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Hamdan Suffian to join DAP since the latter lacks prime ministerial candidates was merely the personal opinion of former Bangi member of parliament Dr Ong Kian Ming.
What is seen as an attempt to distance DAP from the remark made by Ong, party secretary-general Anthony Loke refused to comment on the statement made by the Selangor DAP treasurer.
"That is his personal statement. I do not want to comment on his personal opinion," Loke, who is also Transport Minister, told reporters in Putrajaya near here today.
Ong made the remark when he was featured as a panelist during an online podcast 'Keluar Sekejap' on Youtube hosted by Khairy and Shahril yesterday.

He was responding to Khairy's question as to why he and Shahril should join DAP.
On a separate matter, Loke dismissed speculations on attempts to make DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng the Penang Chief Minister to replace Chow Kon Yeow.
"This is purely rumours. And I do not know who spread such rumours.
"And there is no pressure (movement within the party to make Lim the Penang chief minister).
"I also did not receive any memorandums or letter (demanding to make Lim the Penang chief minister)," Loke said.
