10,000 expected at first Unity Government National Convention on May 14

KUALA LUMPUR: More than 10,000 participants will join the Unity Government National Convention at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on May 14.

Unity Government Secretariat chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the convention themed 'Madani Shaping The Future of Malaysia' will feature two parallel sessions in the morning and the main convention in the afternoon.

"The morning session will see two conventions held simultaneously- the Unity Government National Women's Convention at the Merdeka Hall and the Unity Government National Youth Convention at the Tun Hussein Onn Hall.

"In the afternoon, the main convention will start with the 'Sidang Bicara Rakyat' which will contain three more sub-sessions."

Asyraf, who was speaking at a press conference today, said the sub-sessions will be presented by party representative of the unity government who will be discussing issues regarding the people, economy, nation-building and the Madani concept in executing the government's agenda.

He added that the session later would see the coming together of party presidents that makes up the unity government.

"We will see a congregation of party presidents that make up the unity government, especially those of Barisan Nasional (BN), Pakatan Harapan (PH), Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

"It will then culminate with a speech and declaration by the Unity Government Secretariat chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim."

Asyraf said the large-scale inaugural Unity Government National Convention will comprise 19 parties that make up the unity government.

He said it will be a pivoting point for greater cooperation and understanding of the political parties, which are defending the country's political stability and upholding an agenda that will benefit the people.
