Johor Menteri Besar comes to the aid of injured motorcyclist in accident

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Menteri Besar is definitely a man seen everywhere, even at accident scenes.

Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi was on his way back after conducting a spot check on the traffic congestion resulting from under par road conditions at the Senai underpass when he spotted an accident along Jalan Danga Bay, near here today.

Onn Hafiz was traveling in a car with his officers heading back to his office at 8.49am, when he witnessed a motorcyclist lose control of his Honda 150R motorcycle.

It is learnt the biker had suddenly applied his brakes to avoid a car in front of him, that had made an emergency stop.

It caused the motorcycle to skid and veered into the lane of another car, causing the man's leg to get stuck in the car's front wheel. He was pinned under his machine.

However, the menteri besar whose vehicle was a few cars behind the victim came to his rescue.

It is learnt that Onn Hafiz placed the emergency call and his wife Datin Sharmin Fazlina Mohd Shukor, who was in another vehicle with her medical doctor friend, also rendered help.

Larkin Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Azmi Johar said, 11 personnel were despatched to the scene upon receiving the distress call.

"By the time, we arrived we saw the menteri besar, his wife and a doctor at the scene, helping the victim," he said.

The victim, who was severely injured, was rushed to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital.
