KUALA LUMPUR: Astrophiles can view the annual Perseids meteor shower at its peak from 9pm tonight until early morning tomorrow.
In Facebook posts today, the National Planetarium said the Perseids meteor shower would reach its peak with a rate of 110 meteors per hour, or almost two meteors per minute on Sunday (today) from 9pm until early Monday morning.
"Those who wish to gaze on this meteor shower would have to go to a dark place that is far from light pollution.
"The center of the meteor shower comes from the Perseus constellation located in the northern sky," it said.
Malaysians will have a chance to observe this phenomenon on nights from July 17 to August 24.
Meanwhile, Dark Sky Malaysia in a post of Facebook three days ago said among the places to watch the meteor shower include at Empangan Sungai Selangor in Kuala Kubu Bharu, Balai Cerap Teluk Kemang in Port Dickson, Taman Eko Rimba in Ulu Tembeling, Kompleks Falak Al-Khawrizmi in Alor Gajah and Teluk Binyuk, Kuching.
