Container lorry plunges 5 metres from flyover into gorge at SKVE Near Pulau Indah Toll

KLANG: A container lorry driver experienced a harrowing moment when the heavy vehicle he was operating plunged about five metres from a flyover into a gorge at Leburaya Lembah Selatan Klang (SKVE) near the Pulau Indah Toll, in Pulau Indah.

The driver in his 50s whose lorry was carrying a container with a load of cooking oil, however managed to get out of the vehicle on his own despite being seriously injured.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Malaysia assistant director (operations), Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, said he received a distress call at 11.41am from the highway patrol.

"Upon receiving the report, the fireman on duty was dispatched to the scene and found the container lorry plunged into a 15 feet gorge.

"The investigation found that a local male victim, believed to be the driver, was seriously injured but conscious.

"The vehicle driven by the victim carrying the load of cooking oil crashed on its own," he said in a statement today.

The victim was sent to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for further treatment.
