KUALA PILAH: A batik python weighing 120 kilogrammes, which had just finished devouring a goat in Kampung Terentang, Batu Kikir, here, has been successfully captured.
In the operation around 12.30am last night, the snake was said to have devoured the goat used as bait after the animal's owner found it dead earlier.
District Civil Defence officer Lieutenant (PA) Mohamad Ghazali Abd Rahim said they received a call from a resident at 12.12am, reporting the appearance of the reptile near his goat pen.
"Four members were dispatched to the location to capture the snake, and the operation took about three minutes.
"The reptile appeared satiated after swallowing a goat estimated to weigh about 25 kilograms," he said when contacted today.
Mohamad Ghazali said that the presence of the snake was discovered by the goat owner, who had indeed used his livestock as bait after finding one of his goats dead.
He said the snake was then handed over to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) for further action.
