SEMPORNA: Six people, including a mother with her baby boy and a young girl, died in a collision involving three vehicles on Jalan Kalumpang, Semporna-Tawau, near here, this afternoon.
The incident, which occurred around 4.50pm, involved a four-wheel drive and a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), both carrying four passengers each, and a sedan which was carrying six passengers, including a woman with her baby son, two adult men, an elderly woman, and a young girl.
All six passengers of the sedan died. One other person was injured in the collision. The identities of the victims have yet to be established.
A spokesperson from the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre said they received an emergency call regarding the accident at 4.58pm and a team of seven firemen were dispatched to the scene, which was about 35 kilometres away.

"Upon arrival, we found that 15 people were involved, with six confirmed dead at the scene by medical officers, and one more injured.
The four people in the four-wheel drive truck and the MPV were uninjured," he said.
The bodies of the victims were handed over to the police for further action, and the operation concluded at 7.16pm.
