Two killed as MPV collides with lorry in Gua Musang

GUA MUSANG: Two people were killed when the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) they were travelling in collided with a 10-tonne lorry on Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai near Sungai Lakit early this morning.

The male and female victims succumbed to their injuries and died at the scene during the pre-dawn accident.

The Fire and Rescue Department, in a statement, said a team of seven firefighters in two fire engines was deployed to the scene after they were alerted to the collision at 4.06am.

The team arrived 45 minutes later and found the male victim, who was driving the MPV, unconscious and pinned to his seat.

"The team had to use special equipment to extricate the victim," the statement said.

The female victim, seated in the front passenger seat, was thrown from the vehicle due to the impact of the crash.

"The victims' bodies were handed over to the police for further action," the department added, noting that the operation concluded at 5.39am.
