KUANTAN: The Kuantan City Council (MBK) and the Jerantut District Council's (MDJ) achievement in the Local Authority Star Rating System (SPB-PBT) last year should serve as a benchmark for the remaining nine other local authorities (PBTs) across Pahang.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has challenged the nine PBTs to emulate the footsteps of MBK and MDJ to secure the ratings in the SPB-PBT next year.
"The acknowledgement received by MBK and MDJ is due to the commitment and hard work of their staff, both serving in office and on the ground. I hope both the local authorities can maintain their ratings.
"All the PBTs have to play their respective roles and join hands in offering the best services to the community in line with the development and vision of Pahang.
"I am confident the high commitment and dedication from all quarters will allow us to reach a higher level and deliver the best services to the people," he said in his speech during a ceremony celebrating the SPB-PBT ratings for MBK and MDJ at the Kuantan City Council complex here yesterday.
MBK secured first place in the 2024 SPB-PBT earning a Five-Star Rating and a RM1 million development grant while MDJ secured third spot in the district council category, earning a Five-Star Rating and earning a RM300,000 development grant.
Meanwhile Wan Rosdy said, the award introduced since 2007 by the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit and is held biennially to foster a culture of excellence based on performance through healthy competition among local authorities.
The SPB-PBT is a government rating system used to evaluate local authorities' performance and efficiency. PBTs are given star ratings based on their performance across various categories, including financial management, service delivery, and administrative effectiveness.
