Sabah firemen rescue family trapped in floodwaters

KINABATANGAN: A family of four was stranded in floodwaters for over two hours before being rescued in Jalan Kampung Paris 2 here late last night.

The incident, which occurred at 12.30am, saw a husband, wife and their two daughters rescued by Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue station firefighters.

The station's chief, Nurul Azlan Shah Jamalludin, said as the roads were inundated, his team was only able to reach the location, which was 40km from the station, at 2.47am.

He said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 12.56am.

"A team of personnel and officers, along with a fire engine, was dispatched to the scene to assist the victims.

"The Toyota Hilux driven by the victim was trapped before being swept away by strong currents.

"Fortunately, all victims were rescued safely.

"The fire team then conducted a final inspection to ensure there were no further hazards before concluding the operation at 7.15am," he said.
