Couple killed, 2 kids hurt in road crash in Gua Musang

GUA MUSANG: A man unknowingly forwarded a message about an accident involving a trailer to his brother-in-law, only to later discover that his younger sister and her husband were the victims of the fatal crash.

Mohamad Hasbi had sent the message to his brother-in-law at 2.03am, advising him to be careful, but received no reply.

He said around 2.30am, police officers contacted him about the incident, and confirmed that his sister and brother-in-law had died at the scene.

The weekend holiday joy for Nurul Syafika Anis Zulkifli and Muhammad Syamie Farhan Adnan, who had gone to Kota Baru with their two children, ended in tragedy on Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai, near Bandar Utama Gua Musang, early this morning.

Syamie Farhan and Nurul Syafika, who lived in here, died while trapped in the wreckage.

Their children — Nur Irdina Delisha, 10 months, and Muhammad Izz Danial, 5 — were seriously injured and rushed to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital.

Hasbi, 32, said Nurul Syafika and her family had left for Kota Baru for a holiday around 7am yesterday.

His last communication with his sister had been before her return to Gua Musang, during which she said they would be leaving late after a meal with another brother.

"I was also informed that my two nieces were sent to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital with abdominal injuries," he said when met at the forensic unit of Gua Musang Hospital.

Hasbi said Nurul Syafika was the youngest of four siblings and the only daughter in the family.

"She had mentioned wanting to go to Kota Baru for a holiday while her husband was on leave. The three of us siblings went to Kota Baru yesterday, but we left at different times.

"I returned first and arrived in Gua Musang around 11pm, while she left a bit later, and another brother stayed overnight in Kota Baru.

Nurul Syafika and her husband will be laid to rest at the Kampung Lembaga cemetery.
