KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will immediately step in and investigate if Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) identifies any misconduct in its on-going probe into the awarding of a RM4 million project.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said action would be taken if any wrongdoing was discovered during DBKL's internal investigation.
"If elements of corruption or abuse of power are found during the internal investigation, I guarantee that the MACC will take immediate action," he told Buletin Utama.
Earlier today, Federal Territories Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the internal investigation into procurement issues involving DBKL and linked to filmmaker Datuk Afdlin Shauki is expected to be completed next week.
Dr Zaliha said the internal audit aims to ensure proper governance and transparency within the department and its affiliated agencies.
On Tuesday, DBKL launched an internal investigation into an advisory board member's alleged misconduct related to the awarding of a RM4 million project.
Mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif, who confirmed the probe, said she is working closely with DBKL's integrity unit.
