Police monitoring TikTok accounts promoting illegal entry into Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are monitoring several TikTok accounts featuring videos that allegedly promote illegal entry into Malaysia for Indonesians via speedboat.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan also urged anyone with information on the matter to report it via the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol phone application, as reported by Free Malaysia Today (FMT).

"The police are constantly monitoring information like this to coordinate operations aimed at cracking down on the illegal entry of migrants," he was quoted as saying by FMT.

Hussein's comments came on the heels of several TikTok videos claiming that Indonesians can be transported from various locations in Indonesia, such as Surabaya, Lombok, and Tanjung Balai, to Malaysia.

The service fees allegedly range from RM1,600 to RM2,900 per person and provide transport to destinations in Johor, Kelantan, and Selangor, including Port Klang. The service also accommodates Indonesians in Malaysia seeking to return home.
