JOHOR BARU: Three Singaporeans, including a woman, were among 122 foreigners deported yesterday after serving their sentences at the Pekan Nenas Immigration Depot.
The other deportees included 89 Myanmar nationals, 26 Indonesians, two Cambodians, one Thai, and one Nigerian.
They funded their own repatriation costs after their respective embassies issued temporary travel documents.
Johor Immigration Department director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the deportees had served prison sentences for various offences, including violations under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963.
The deportees have been blacklisted in the immigration system and are barred from re-entering Malaysia for a designated period.
The repatriation exercise saw the foreigners sent back via Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Stulang Laut Ferry Terminal, and Pasir Gudang Ferry Terminal.
The Singaporeans were handed over to the republic's immigration authorities at the Woodlands Checkpoint.
Rusdi said the deportation exercise is part of the ongoing efforts by the department to prevent overcrowding at detention facilities.
He added that to ensure the exercise ran smoothly, the Pekan Nenas Immigration Depot facilitated ticket purchases and other repatriation arrangements without imposing any service charges.
The public can contact the Immigration Depot's Records and Transfer Unit at 07-6993540 for information on the deportation records of their family members.
