KOTA BARU: The Immigration Department will assist the police in investigating cases of Indonesian nationals illegally entering Malaysia by speedboat, including via Kelantan.
Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said similar cooperation would also be extended to other border control agencies.
"Border crossings through illegal entry points are under the jurisdiction of other border control agencies, such as the police and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency.
"The Immigration Department will co-operate with these agencies to ensure border security."
Zakaria advised tourists to use legal entry points when entering Malaysia.
A report by FMT yesterday (Feb 1) stated that police are monitoring TikTok accounts posting clips that allegedly offer Indonesians illegal entry into Malaysia via speedboat.
The videos claim that Indonesians can be transported from Surabaya, Lombok, and Tanjung Balai to Malaysia for between RM1,600 and RM2,900 per person.
They claim to offer transport to Johor, Kelantan and Selangor, including Port Klang, and also assist Indonesians in Malaysia seeking to return home.
Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan urged those with information on these activities to contact the police via the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol app.
In Kelantan, state authorities have identified at least eight locations used by human trafficking syndicates to smuggle migrants into Malaysia.
These illegal jetties are in Rantau Panjang and Tumpat and they include Tok Awang Belulang and Lubok Gong.
The remaining six are MCA, Gergaji, Tanjung, Jeram Perdah 1, Jeram 2 and Jeram 3.
