SHAH ALAM: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) is conducting continuous monitoring of the Sky City Theme Park, which was ordered to cease operations effective Friday.
In a statement, MBSA said the closure was enforced following a site visit by MBSA officials and the police.
"For information, the closure was carried out after a field visit by MBSA's top management, led by acting deputy mayor Madiyan Baweh, MBSA councillor Maizan Abdul Majid, and police on Jan 31, at 5.30pm. The i-City management has been instructed to immediately halt Sky City's operations, and MBSA is conducting continuous monitoring," the statement read.
Meanwhile, Tourism Selangor will continue working closely with local authorities (PBT) to strengthen monitoring efforts and ensure that all tourism sites comply with the required safety regulations.
Tourism Selangor, in a statement, reaffirmed its commitment to providing accurate tourism information and promoting licensed tourism products through its official website at visitselangor2025.myor via social media platforms at @TourismSelangor.
"The safety of visitors remains a priority in Selangor's tourism industry. Tourism Selangor acknowledges the incident at Sky City Theme Park and will ensure that appropriate measures are taken to guarantee the safety and comfort of tourists. With collective efforts from authorities, theme park operators, and visitors, Selangor's tourism sector will continue to thrive, particularly in enhancing safety and comfort for all travellers," the statement said.
Yesterday, media reports stated that Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari will summon the theme park's management for further discussions.
Additionally, the park's operations have been suspended indefinitely until its operators meet the safety specifications set by MBSA.
