KUALA SELANGOR: Police have arrested three men, including a senior citizen, to assist in investigations involving two separate rape cases in Jeram yesterday.
Kuala Selangor district police chief Superintendent Azaharudin Tajudin said the first case involved an eight-year-old girl who was raped by her father.
"Police received the report from the victim's biological mother at 8.29pm. Initial investigation revealed that the 33-year-old suspect had divorced the complainant in February 2022. The victim had been living with the suspect," he said when contacted.
He added that the girl was allowed to stay with her mother on weekends and during school holidays.
He also said that at 7pm yesterday, the victim informed her mother of the incident with the suspect.
"Following the report, a police team from the criminal investigation division of the Kuala Selangor district police headquarters arrested the suspect," he said.
Meanwhile, another case involved a 14-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by her grandfather and uncle, aged 66 and 21, respectively.
Azaharudin said a report was lodged by the victim's granduncle at 7.38pm after the girl confided in him.
"Both suspects have been arrested, and further investigations confirmed that they are related to the victim," he said.
All suspects have been remanded for six days, from today until Feb 7, to assist in investigations under Section 376 of the Penal Code.
