SERI ALAM: Police arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly filming a woman using a toilet at a petrol station in Ulu Tiram near here on Saturday.
District police chief Superintendent Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the suspect was arrested in the petrol station vicinity after closed-circuit television (CCTV) caught him in the alleged act.
The one minute and 15 second footage of the CCTV recording went viral after it was uploaded onto Info Roadblock's Facebook page with the caption "sex-maniac records woman urinating in petrol station toilet".
The video on the Facebook page depicted a man allegedly recording a woman in a compromising situation in the petrol station's restroom, claiming that he had deviant intentions.
It showed a man alighting from his motorcycle and making his way to the station's toilet.
Before that, it recorded a woman entering the female toilet.
The man then lingered around before he was believed to have swiped out his mobile phone in an attempt to film the woman in the toilet.
However, several seconds later, he was seen running away from the scene before making his getaway on his motorcycle.
Mohd Sohaimi said the investigation papers have been completed and referred to the deputy public prosecutor.
The suspect was charged in the Johor Baru Magistrate Court on Sunday under Section 509 of the Penal Court for insulting the modesty of the victim.
Upon conviction, the 19-year-old may face a RM5,000 fine or up to a year in prison.
