BN Perak launches its manifesto focuses on seven target groups

IPOH: Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) today unveiled its manifesto for the 14th General Election (GE14) with the theme 'For Peace and Prosperity' which focused on seven pillars and seven targeted groups.

The manifesto was launched by Perak BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir in front of more than 2,500 supporters at the Menteri Besar Residential here.

The manifesto zoomed in seven pillars; to increase investment and strengthen the economy; to bring down rising cost of living and create more job opportunities; housing and empowerment of human capital with guaranteed education opportunities.

Besides that, the manifesto also includes to guarantee the well-being of the people, safety and peace; preservation of the environment and sustainable development and make Perak as an international destination.

Seven targeted groups are women, young people, Orang Kita (Orang Asli community), orang Taman (residential community), villagers, disabled and senior citizen.

Among the most highlighted initiatives in the manifesto was the construction of a new airport in Seri Iskandar which would inject domestic investment and a catalyst to state's economic growth.

Young people were also given a boost by offering them Youth Transit Home, strengthening the role of Perak Housing and Real Estate Board (HLPL) as the coordinator of the affordable housing program and creating Rumah Bahagia Amanjaya for newlyweds as well as to allocate 10 per cent quota in owning a government-built home.

For the Orang Asli community, the state government would continue to reserve their settlements as well as to establish Special Fund for Orang Asli (Tabung Khas Pengupayaan Orang Asli) and to carry out pilot programs for Orang Asli youth.

BN Perak was also committed to providing facilities in residential areas including recreation areas, children's playgrounds, road paving and drainage works.

For rural communities, BN Perak pledged to exempt the hike of land tax should the party was given another chance to administer the state.

The women' roles, furthermore, would see their 30 per cent involvement in Board Members of government-related companies and agencies as well as providing five per cent housing quotas for all categories which developed by the state government especially for the single mother.

Thunderous applause from the crowd was heard when Zambry announced that seven-day employment leave would not be recorded for civil servants who need to take care of their sick parents.

Zambry in a press conference later said that the presented manifesto was not sweet for the people during this election fever but a growth strategy and vision that would be implemented.

"We make this manifesto based on the future vision and growth strategy to develop Perak by highlighting seven pillars and seven targeted groups.

"The people can see how we can do something precisely in developing Perak and this is not an empty promise. We have experienced in ruling the state and based on that and our ability, 75 per cent of the manifesto are a new thing," he added. — Reports by Shaarani Ismail, Zahratulhayat Mat Arif and Razif Rosli
