State government committed to show Perak to the world

LUMUT: The state government is committed in efforts to showcase Perak at the international level through various programmes involving foreign participation.

Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, said the organisation of large capacity programmes suich as sports and conferences was part of a process to internationalise Perak and introduce the state to the world.

"We have identified several fields and areas, among them sports and large scale conferences.

"At the same time, we have also realised programmes such as the Pangkor Dialogue," he said at a press conference after flagging off the Janamanjung Fellowship Ride’ (JMFR) 2018 at Teluk Batik, here today.

Zambry said programmes such as the cycling event and others helped to promote domestic tourism .

"It encourages more people from outside Perak to visit with the Manjung district being one of the main domestic tourism destinations.

"There will also be an increase in tourist arrival with the declaration of Pangkor being a duty free island,” he said.

Zambry, who is also the Barisan Nasional candidate for the Lumut parliamentary and Pangkor state seat, advised candidates in the 14th general election to not to allow their emotions to get the better of them.

"If we allow that to happen, it will bring about negative implications to the state and country.

"During the election, we sometimes tend to get carried away. This is why I am urging for everyone to be calm and rational.

"BN’s approach is not an emotional one.”
