KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera (PBB) will call for a meeting next week, to decide its next move after the fall of Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 14th General Election (GE14).
PBB deputy president Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said a supreme council meeting is scheduled on Wednesday.
“It is a meeting for our party and does not involve other BN component parties,” he told reporters at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), here.
When asked if PBB, the largest political party in Sarawak, will join Pakatan Harapan (PH), Awang Tengah declined to comment.
“Let’s wait for the meeting,” he said.
He also refused to confirm the meeting between Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud and Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
It is learnt that that the party which retained 14 seats in GE14 is expected to quit BN and set up its own local-based coalition.
Earlier, Awang Tengah who is also Sarawak third Deputy Chief Minister, launched the HackWeekend IDECS, a continuous event where teams collaborate to use computer programming to solve problems.
Awang Tengah said a total of 12 teams will be working to solve three important themes in the state’s digital economy.
“We hope to cultivate the culture of problem solving by using digital solution, whether it is building computer applications or hardware prototypes,” he added.
