KUALA LUMPUR: The new Wangsa Maju Umno Puteri chief Nor Bhaiti Mohd Sabar pledged to restore Umno to its days of glory by championing good practices in politics.
“Our defeat does not mean that we have failed, it’s merely an indicator that we have to change our attitude towards betterment,” said Bhaiti.
The 35-year-old who works as a business development manager had proved her devotion as she had sacrificed her confinement period to attend the meeting today.
Bhaiti, who is a new mother, said even during election, when she was heavily pregnant, she would help the party’s machinery for campaigning work.
“Umno has never lost it’s touch, even after the defeat. As proven, in Wangsa Maju we are opening another three more branches to accommodate the number of new members,” she said.
For the position of Wangsa Maju Umno Puteri vice chief, Noor Suhana Ishak emerged as winner for the post.
The national election is for the posts of permanent chairman, deputy permanent chairman, chief, vice chief and 25 executive committee members at the central level.
Elections to the senior party’s Supreme Council, including the president and deputy president, will be held on June 30.
