KUALA LUMPUR: Sungai Petani member of parliament, Datuk Johari Abdul has denied allegations of a crisis brewing in PKR in light of the upcoming party elections.
Johari, who confirmed that he will be contesting for the party’s vice president post, said the existence of several camps in PKR was a reflection of true democracy.
"We have been here for more than 20 years, and we have been fighting each other but nothing has happened.
“No matter the outcome we are solid as a rock, like Gibraltar,” he said to the reporters at the Dewan Rakyat lobby.
“We are not like the others; once the ‘war’ (elections) is done, they split up.
“This is not the same with PKR. We may have been fighting for years but we are still okay. Regardless of the outcome, we are still strong,” he said.
He also admitted that he supports Rafizi Ramli’s camp.
Rafizi has announced that he will be contesting for PKR’s deputy president post in the election which would take place next month.
Johari nevertheless extended his best wishes to Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, who is also said to be vying one of the top party positions.
“I wish him good luck. Certainly he will have his own team but I have no idea who are in his team.
“I also don’t know what position Azmin is contesting for. He might be contesting for the party’s deputy position or maybe for a higher position...that I don’t know.
"I can only speak for my team, which is team Rafizi,” he said.
