'Seize the land if you have proof': Tok Mat

SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan has the right to seize any land from individuals allegedly given without using proper channels under the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) administration.

BN's candidate for the Rantau state seat by-election Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said, the seizure of such lands should be done, if it can be proven that misuse of power was involved in the lands being gained by such individuals.

"As far as I am concerned, I had never abused my power during my 14 years as the Menteri Besar to make decisions that would benefit me.

"All decisions related to land ownerships were made by state executive councils after taking into accounts various considerations," he said in a press conference, here, at the BN's command centre here, today.

He said, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) state government should launch an investigation on the matter and walk the talk.

"Seize the land if you have proof that there had been misconduct and non-compliance to the procedures. The state government has the right to do so.

"Don't just talk, do it (seize the land). I am ready to be investigated if they have proof that I had committed any wrongdoing," he said.

State asembly speaker, Datuk Zulkefly Mohd Omar during a ceramah held here recently alleged that Mohamad had given lands to his cronies while he was the state's Mentri Besar.

Zulkefly had also claimed that landowners did not pay any tax payments for the land which had caused loss to the state government.

Zulkefly, who is also Negri Sembilan Parti Amanah Negara chairman had said that the list of the landowners would be exposed in a few days.

"The state government is also in talks with Yayasan Negeri Sembilan to seize the land," he said.
