SEBERANG JAYA: Pas will wait for Umno supreme council's decision on the fate of Muafakat Nasional before deciding on the collaboration between the two parties.
Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan however, confirmed that there were negotiations and discussions going on among state leaders and grassroots on the matter.
"We will wait for Umno supreme council's decision first.
"After all, there is still time before the dissolution of parliament. It is still undecided whether it will be called this year or next year.
"We are willing to talk to any party. In Malaysian politics, we are free to talk even to the opposition parties," he said today.
He was met after the launch of Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB)'s RM500 million electricity supply strengthening project in Penang.
Takiyuddin was commenting on Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan's statement yesterday that the decision on whether or not Umno would negotiate with Pas in facing the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15) would be made by the Umno supreme council.
Mohamad's comment came in the wake of Takiyuddin's earlier remarks that Pas would continue to consider Umno and all parties under the umbrella of ummah unity as ta'awun partners (cooperation partners) as decided in the Pas central committee meeting on Sept 11.
Barisan Nasional (BN) had so far decided to go solo in GE15.
On whether Pas' leadership would persuade Umno to revive Muafakat Nasional, Takiyuddin replied in the negative, reiterating the party's stand that it was willing to talk with any party in the country.
