SHAH ALAM: PKR members echoed calls for party Advisory Council chairman Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to defend the Pandan parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).
PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the request to field Dr Wan Azizah, who won the seat in 2018, would be considered.
"There is a request within the party.
"Hence, we will consider (the request) and make a decision from there," he said when asked by reporters after the launching of Harapan Women Commitment for Malaysia.
Present were Amanah Awan chief Aiman Athirah Sabu, PKR Women chief Fadhlina Sidek, UPKO Sabah chief Rowindy Lawrence and Amanah vice-president Adly Zahari.
Anwar, however, refused to say which seat Dr Wan Azizah would contest, saying that a decision on the matter would be made soon.
PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli had earlier this week said he wished to contest in Pandan, the seat which he won in 2013.
Commenting further, Anwar said there would be more seat allocations for women candidates in GE15, in line with Pakatan Harapan's (PH) policy to allow more women to contest.
"However, this would follow the decision made by the women leaders in PH. There will be a list, and we will see from there.
"It is not wrong if party leaders conveyed their views and opinions to have more women to contest (in GE15)," he responded to a question about whether PH will allow more women in the coalition to contest in GE15.
