SHAH ALAM: Pakatan Harapan (PH) is retaining PKR deputy Information chief (1) Datuk R. Ramanan to face off against Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Khairy Jamaluddin in the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15).

Selangor PH chairman, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, said that the candidates' line-up remained status quo for now.

"This is the final decision made between him (Rafizi Ramli) and the PKR president (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim).

"So far, we proceed with what has been announced. We are certain thorough deliberation has been made before (finalising the candidates' list).

"Each of us must comply with some decisions made earlier," he said when asked about his take regarding the status of the PH candidate vying for the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat.

Earlier, Amiruddin attended a programme to introduce PH candidates for GE15 in Selangor at Dewan Raja Muda Musa, Seksyen 7.

Reporters who tried to get Ramanan's comment on the matter could not do so since he had left the event venue when the press conference with Amiruddin started.

Deputy PKR president Rafizi Ramli tweeted that he would discuss voters' feedback in Sungai Buloh on PKR candidate with Anwar.

"I appreciate all views. The final decision will be his (Anwar) as the party president," he tweeted on Wednesday.

Following the announcement of Khairy's candidacy, numerous calls were made by netizens to PKR to change its candidate.

The confirmation of caretaker Health Minister Khairy's candidacy at one of the 22 parliamentary constituencies in Selangor ended months of speculation on the political future of the three times Rembau member of parliament.

Sungai Buloh is a PKR stronghold. In the 2018 general election, R. Sivarasa retained the seat after he polled 43,631 votes in a three-cornered contest.

PKR is fielding Ramanan for the Nov 19 election, having dropped Sivarasa. Perikatan Nasional (PN) has named Mohd Ghazali Md Hamin from Pas as its candidate.
