GE15: Panic moment for Dr Wan Azizah when realised MyKad not with her

KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan candidate Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail faced a panic moment ahead of the Bandar Tun Razak candidate nomination process earlier today when her MyKad slipped out.

Pointing at her candidate tag, Dr Wan Azizah said she slipped her MyKad along with her tag and did not realise when the document slipped out from it.

"I was walking when it slipped out. Luckily the crowd (supporters) realised," she said.

She then made a 'u-turn' to retrieve her MyKad back and was the first to arrive at the candidate nomination centre at 8.45am.

At the same time, the candidate nomination in Bandar Tun Razak has been smooth sailing as no candidates were seen to face major glitches and hiccups during the nomination process compared to the previous election.

During the 2018 general election, Barisan Nasional candidate for Bandar Tun Razak Adnan Abu Seman had a nervous time when he encountered a glitch in the submission of documents for his candidacy.

Adnan had apparently neglected to attach his appointment letter (watikah perlantikan) together with his candidacy form at the Dewan Mustika, Institut Latihan DBKL (IDB), Jalan Yaacob Latif.

He, however, managed to obtain the form 20 minutes before the candidacy submissions opened at 10am.

Meanwhile, Bandar Tun Rasak will see a three-corner fight between Dr Wan Azizah, BN's Datuk Chew Yin Keen and Perikatan Nasional's Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar in GE15.

Earlier, Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary elections officer, Mohammad Amin announced that no nomination forms for the three candidates were rejected.

Dr Wan Azizah submitted her nomination papers at 9.04am, Chew at 9.07am and Kamarudin at 9.09am.

A total of 119,185 individuals are set to cast their votes at the constituency.

The polling day has been set on Nov 19, while the early polling day is on Nov 15.
