GE15: Kedah MB told to stop personal attacks on candidates

ALOR STAR: Kedah Umno Youth has urged Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to retract his bankruptcy remarks on Alor Star Barisan Nasional (BN) parliament seat candidate Tan Chee Hiong.

Its information chief Syed Mohd Johan Rizal Syed Unan Mashri said Sanusi should apologise to Tan and his family immediately.

"After belittling women's abilities, Datuk Seri Sanusi has continued his smear campaign.

"This time by peddling the story that the Alor Star BN parliament seat candidate is not a good son, not a good businessman and cannot be relied on as a leader by bringing the story that the candidate's father went bankrupt because of his son.

"It is obvious that Kedah Menteri Besar has committed slander against Tan and his family by peddling complete misinformation," he said in a statement today.

He said Sanusi's remarks during Perikatan Nasional (PN) Alor Star parliamentary campaign talk last night was baseless and he used misinformation to entertain the audience.

"I have received factual information from Tan and he said his father's business was not bankrupt but his father had health problems because he underwent surgery on his leg," he said.

Meanwhile, Syed Mohd Johan has also urged Sanusi to quit the outdated campaign tactic of making personal attacks on election candidates and focus on his own party or explain the shortcomings of the state government.

"We have had enough of Sanusi's personal attacks on candidates, such campaign methods are outdated in today's mature and modern political age.

"Just stick to what Kedah PN can offer or explain the failure of the current state government which was unable to overcome the water supply issue, underwhelming state football team performance and various other issues," he added.
