ALOR STAR: Perikatan Nasional (PN) is confident of securing 33 out of 36 state seats in Kedah despite a possible political-pact between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) in the upcoming state polls.
Kedah PN chairman Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said he was confident that PN would win a strong majority in the polls, which is expected to be held anytime now until July, based on PN's outstanding performance during the 15th General Election (GE15) held in November.
"PH will cooperate with BN as has happened at the federal level. The same thing will happen at the state level.
"Even in the event of PH votes are combined with BN votes, PN will win again.
"They can only win three seats; Kota Darul Aman, Bakar Arang and Sidam," he told reporters after delivering 2024 executive talk to Kedah civil servants at Dewan Seri Mentaloon here today.
He claimed that facing a possible pact between BN and PH would not bother PN, while labelling their alliance as "confusing".
"During the election campaign, they (PH and BN) said they could do this and do that but after a month or so now, they are unable to work their formulas.
"Nothing that they had proposed is working. The people are concerned about the supply and price of chicken and eggs, but they would rather discuss about pork. They are confusing right? How can people support them? It's a confused government," he added.
Commenting further, Sanusi said PN's political momentum was increasing day by day since GE15.
"That momentum will always be on the increase, it will not fade at all. We also promise to do our best work, which we can certainly do."
Six states, namely Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan, had earlier decided not to hold state elections together with GE15 in November 2022, since it was held during the annual monsoon flood season.
The current State Legislative Assembly term for the state six states is due to expire by July.
