Tok Mat returns as Rembau Umno chief unopposed

JOHOR BARU: Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan was returned unopposed as the Rembau Umno division chief, after nominations for party polls closed two days ago.

Negeri Sembilan Umno secretary Mustafa Salim said also retaining their posts are Jelebu Umno division chief Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias, who is also Jelebu member of parliament.

"Others who were retained unopposed are Tampin Umno division chief and deputy division chief Datuk Mohd Isam Mohd Isa and Datuk Abd Razak Ab Said.

"There will be competition for Datuk Ismail Lasim to remain Kuala Pilah Umno division chief, who is being challenged by the division vice chief Khairolnezam Shaari.

"The race for the Port Dickson Umno division chairman post will involve division chief Datuk Faizal Ramli and Bagan Pinang assemblyman Datuk Tun Hairuddin Tun Abu Bakar," he said, here, today.

Mustafa said the Rasah Umno Division Chief post will see a three-cornered between the incumbent, Datuk Hasim Rusdi, Mohd Helmi Din and Hamizam Abd Razak.

In the Jempol Umno Division, its acting chief, Datuk Shamsulkahar Mohd Deli, is not contesting for any posts in the party polls.

"The chief for the Umno division (Jempol), Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Mohd Sharif was suspended by the Supreme Council recently," he said.

Mustafa said Negri Sembilan Umno information chief Mustafa Nagor, who is the incumbent Seremban Umno division chief, is being challenged by the division's vice chief, Mazalan Ma'arof.

Mohd Najib Mohd Isa, 45, the eldest son of former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, is seeking a seat on the 25-member supreme council.
