Tuan Ibrahim: Sanusi targeted due to his leadership, achievements

KUALA LUMPUR: Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man claimed caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor's statements were being distorted.

Tuan Ibrahim, who is Kubang Kerian member of parliament, said Sanusi was facing constant attacks due to his leadership and achievements as Kedah Menteri Besar.

He said this showed Pakatan Harapan's and Barisan Nasional's huge focus on Sanusi in the lead up to the state polls.

"The continuous attacks towards Sanusi is as if the state elections are all about him.

"But this is all because of his leadership and achievements as the menteri besar.

"PH and BN seem very focused on the state polls in Kedah and not other Pas-led states like Kelantan and Terengganu, as they don't hold talks there.

"But this will only increase people's confidence in Sanusi."

Tuan Ibrahim said this during the Pidato Kebangkitan Rakyat Gombak event that was aired on his Facebook page.

Present were Selangor PN chairman Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Muafakat Nasional chairman Tan Sri Annuar Musa, who recently joined Pas.

Tuan Ibrahim said Sanusi did not insult the Selangor royal institution.

"He did not insult the royal institution, the Sultan of Selangor or other states.

"This a political strategy that many are trying to link to the royals.

"I have a lot of respect for Sanusi. Even though his words were distorted, he apologised and sent a letter to explain that he had no intention to insult (the sultan), like what is claimed in the media."

It was reported that during a PN ceramah in Selayang, Sanusi allegedly belittled the appointment of Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shaari by the Sultan of Selangor.

Sanusi also compared Sultan of Kedah Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah with the Sultan of Selangor, saying Amirudin's appointment as menteri besar was 'cokia' (substandard).

He later sent a warkah (letter) to Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to explain his remarks and apologise.

Sanusi's apology came after several police reports were lodged against him.

He was also criticised by Pas spiritual leader Datuk Hashim Jasin, who told Sanusi and other party leaders to watch their language when discussing the three R's — race, religion and royalty.
