KOTA BARU: The Kota Lama state seat, one of Pas's strongholds since the 1990s, has been won by Pakatan Harapan.
The seat was won by Parti Amanah Negara candidate Dr Hafidzah Mustakim who obtained 9,691 votes.
She defeated Perikatan Nasional candidate Datuk Zamri Ismail who received 9,489 votes.
Kota Lama is one of three seats under the Kota Baru parliamentary constituency.
The other seats are Tanjong Mas and Bunut Payong.
In the Tanjong Mas seat, PN's Rohani Ibrahim won the seat with 15,529 votes, beating PH candidate Zinda Khalil Sastro Hassan who obtained 8,936 votes.
For Bunut Payong, Shaari Mat Yaman of Pas won with 13,887 votes, beating Datuk Mohamed Hasnan Che Hussin of BN who obtained 8,277 votes.
Meanwhile, Dr Hafidzah thanked her voters for choosing her.
"The result really shocked me. I didn't expect to win the seat. For that, l would like to thank all who have been supporting me.
"I promise to give my best service and become the voice of those who have given me their trust," she added.
