Gerik MP Fathul Huzir Ayob resigns as Gerik Bersatu division secretary

IPOH: Gerik member of Parliament, Fathul Huzir Ayob has resigned as the Gerik Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) division secretary.

Fathul Huzir said in a statement that the decision was made because he was previously appointed to the position by Mohamad Rizal Abd Razak, the acting Bersatu Gerik division chief, who also resigned on Oct 1.

He, however, stressed that his resignation was unrelated and should not be linked to his position as a member of parliament for Perikatan Nasional (PN).

"I resigned from the position of (Gerik Bersatu) division secretary because I was appointed by the acting division chief. When he resigns, it would be appropriate if I also do the same, as a sign of my solidarity with the acting division chief.

"The matter related to Bersatu Gerik is a party matter and it should not be associated with my position as one of the PN members of parliament," he said in a statement uploaded on his official Facebook today.

This statement was issued by Fathul Huzir in response to numerous unsubstantiated rumours and speculations following his resignation as Gerik Bersatu Division Secretary on Oct 6.

"My service as a member of parliament for PN remains and I will never back down from the opposition line nor express my support for the government today. My loyalty cannot be bought and sold," he said.

Two weeks ago, media reported that Kuala Kangsar MP from Bersatu, Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid declared his support for the unity government led by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
