Man killed after sports car skids at Johor roundabout

KUALA LUMPUR: A 41-year-old man was killed while his friend suffered minor injuries when a sports car they were travelling skidded and crashed at a roundabout in Iskandar Puteri, Johor early this morning.

The victim, who was behind the wheel of the white Nissan GTR, died on the spot after he succumbed to severe injuries to his head and right leg during the incident.

His 36-year-old friend, the passenger in the car, escaped with wounds on one of his elbows.

Iskandar Puteri police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan, in a statement, said police received a report of the accident at about 4am.

"Preliminary investigation showed the duo were heading to Gelang Patah from Puteri Harbour. The driver of the car is believed to have lost control of the vehicle before it skidded at the roundabout near Kampung Sungai Melayu," he said.

Kumarasan added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
