KOTA KINABALU: The Api-Api Night Food Market will return to Gaya Street here from Saturday, bringing back its much needed colourful and lively atmosphere to the tourist street which has been quiet for the past three months following the Covid-19 pandemic.
The night food market was temporarily stopped in March following the Covid-19 outbreak and imposition of the movement control order.
Mayor Datuk Nordin Siman said the weekend activity would resume at 6pm tomorrow, allowing food operators to put up their kiosk and open business as usual.
"The public are reminded to practice social distancing and comply with the standard operating procedure when visiting the night market to ensure spread of coronavirus is controlled," he said.
Deputy Chief Minister and state Tourism, Culture, and Environment (Kepkas) MInister Datuk Christina Liew is expected to attend the re-opening of night food market tomorrow.
Organised by Kepkas and DBKK, several entertainments have been lined up to make the event more joyful.
Visitors to the night food market, which will be open until midnight, will be entertained with a welcome dance performance and lion dance, among others.
