Smashing success for Vivian and Cheng Wen in Macau

KUALA LUMPUR: National women's badminton doubles Vivian Hoo-Yap Cheng Wen's recently formed partnership is turning to be a smashing success.

They proved their potential by winning the Macau Open today with a 21-15, 22-20 triumph over Japan's Akane Watanabe-Misato Aratama in the final.

For the duo, who were paired only in September, the Macau outing is their biggest success so far.

Vivian said: "We didn't expect to win the Macau title. This will be great for our confidence.''

Vivian teamed up with Cheng Wen after her former partner Woon Khe Wei suffered a knee injury.

Currently ranked World No 75, the Malaysian pair aim to do well in the India Open on Nov 20-25.
