The Indonesians showed grit and heart as they defeated South Korea 3-1 in the final at the Setia City Convention Centre here.

World No 27 Gregoria Mariska Tunjung got them off to a flying start with a convincing 21-9, 21-10 win over Sim Yujin in the first singles title.

South Korea, however, struck back with the combination of Baek Ha Na-Seong Seung Yeon, edging past Kusuma Febriani Dwipuji-Pratiwi Amalia Cahaya 21-15, 14-21, 21-14.

Indonesia, however, jumped back in front with Wardani Putri Kusuma beating Lee Se Yeon 21-10, 21-18 in the second singles match.

And they sealed the win with Marwah Nita Violina-Mayasari Lanny Tria beating Kim Min Ji-Park Min Jeong 23-21, 21-11.

It is an outstanding result for the Indonesians who did not even reach the semi-finals of the event in 2020.

With the likes of Olympic gold medallist Greysia Polli-Apriyani Rahayu likely to return, Indonesia will head into the Uber Cup Finals in May as a strong contender.
