World No 42 Tze Yong cruised to a comfortable 21-10, 21-9 win over Pakistan's Irfan Saeed Bhatti and plays Maldives' Afjan Rasheed in the next round.
A win tomorrow will see Tze Yong take on reigning world champion and top seed Loh Kean Yew of Singapore in the quarter-finals.
Tze Yong is on fire in the individual event after leading Malaysia to a 3-1 upset win over India in the mixed team final on Tuesday.
In the mixed doubles, Chan Peng Soon-Cheah Yee See thrashed Singapore's Andy Kwek-Jin Yujia.
They won 21-8, 21-13 and will face Jack Yu-Kaitlyn Ea of Australia next.
