Chong-Kai Wun edged in epic Malaysia Masters final

KUALA LUMPUR: World No 26 pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun were forced to settle for the runners-up spot after going down to South Korea's Kang Min Hyuk-Seo Seung Jae in the men's doubles final at the Malaysia Masters today.

Wei Chong-Kai Wun lost 21-15, 22-24, 21-19 in a hard-fought 80 minute match at the Axiata Arena.

The duo, however, still deserve a pat on their backs for their never say die attitude.

In the second game, they clawed their way back from 19-14 down and saved three match points to force a deciding game.

Had Wei Chong-Kai Wun won the Super 500 event, it would have been their biggest title to date.

The pair had previously won at the Syed Modi International and Taiwan Open, which are both Super 300 events.

Their defeat, however, means Malaysia's wait for a title at the Malaysia Masters continues. Mixed doubles pair Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing were the last Malaysians to win in 2017.
