SEPANG: Legendary Indonesian coach Herry IP is embracing his new role with the BA of Malaysia (BAM), insisting he feels no pressure ahead of his official start on Saturday.
The 63-year-old, who had been with the Indonesian BA (PBSI) since 1993, decided to explore opportunities abroad after his contract was not renewed in December.
Malaysia, long considered Indonesia's arch-rival in badminton, became his ideal destination.

"Despite being rivals, Malaysia and Indonesia share many similarities—culture, language, food, and even training methods. That's why I accepted this offer," said Herry upon his arrival at KLIA in Sepang on Thursday night.
"Malaysia also have several promising pairs. I feel more excited than pressured to begin my job here."
Herry has already met several Malaysia top men's doubles pairs during a dinner in Jakarta last week while they were competing at the Indonesia Masters.

He had discussions with world No. 5 Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun, Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King and Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing.
"I had a good chat with the players and got to know them better," said Herry.
"It was great to see Wei Chong-Kai Wun winning the Indonesia Masters.
"It shows that Malaysian doubles have depth and quality, which makes me even more motivated to start my job here."
Nicknamed "The Magician," Herry has coached multiple world and Olympic champions, including Chandra Wijaya-Tony Gunawan and Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan.
His first official assignment with BAM will be at the Asian Mixed Team Championships in Qingdao, China, from Feb 11-16.
