Battle of the Unbeatens: India and SA clash in World Cup final

KUALA LUMPUR: Defending champions India and South Africa will battle for the Under-19 women's T20 World Cup title tomorrow at the Bayuemas Cricket Oval in Pandamaran, Klang.

Both teams are unbeaten, going into the final.

India, led by captain Niki Prasad, aim to maintain their dominance while South Africa eye their first ever title in this competition.

In the first edition, India beat England by seven wickets in the final in South Africa in 2023.

In the ongoing tournament in Malaysia, India beat England by nine wickets while the South Africans defeated Australia by five wickets in the semi-finals.

India look to be the favourites as they have solid bowlers and batters.

India's Trisha Gongadi, playing in her second Under-19 World Cup, is currently the top batter in the tournament with 265 runs in eight matches. She created history with a century from 110 runs (59 balls) against Scotland without being out.

South Africa will bank on Jemma Botha (89 runs), Simone Lourens (71 runs) and Kayla Reyneke — the fourth highest wicket taker in the tournament — with 10 wickets.

India captain Niki told ICC-Cricket.Com: "We are excited to play in the final and there are no nerves."

South Africa captain Kayla Reyneke said her team have a strong batting unit, and she backs them to beat India.
