KUALA LUMPUR: Kelantan have been docked three points following the club’s failure to comply with Fifa’s decision over claims made by former technical director Alfredo Carlos Gonzalez.
The east coast side have now dropped one rung to 10th in the Premier League with only four points.
Gonzales was appointed in April 2017 by then Kelantan FA (Kafa) president Tan Sri Annuar Musa, but his tenure reportedly only lasted two months.
In January last year, Gonzalez filed a complaint against Kafa for breach of contract over his salary.
On March 6, Fifa ordered Kafa to pay Gonzalez RM235,686 within 30 days, a sum that included the wage claim, penalties and legal costs.
Kafa only responded on April 3 and even then only to request for a 30-day extension, supposedly due to the dispute between the association and the company appointed to manage and secure their finances, Red Warriors Sdn Bhd (KRW).
On April 10, Fifa’s National Dispute Resolution Chamber (NDRC) instructed the FA of Malaysia (FAM) to deduct three points from Kelantan's current league campaign.
FAM have forwarded Fifa’s ruling to the Malaysia Football League (MFL) for them to inform Kafa officially in regard to the three-point deduction.
