KUALA LUMPUR: Defending champions Police ousted Kedah in the Challenge Cup after winning the semi-final 5-4 on penalties on Saturday in Alor Star.
The second leg match had ended 1-1, leading to a shootout as both teams were even on 4-4 aggregate.
Despite their off-field struggles and the departure of key players, Kedah took the lead in the 58th minute through Amirul Hisyam Awang Kechik.
Just as the Red Eagles seemed headed for the final, Shafizi Iqmal Khirudin struck in the seventh minute of stoppage time for the Cops.
However, neither side could break the deadlock in extra time.
In the shootout, Police won 5-4 with Police goalkeeper Bryan See playing a key role.
The Cops will play the winners of the Selangor-Penang semi-final match today (Feb 2).
