KUALA LUMPUR: The Penang girls, who are being prepared for the Terengganu Malaysia Games next year, have proved themselves in the ongoing Razak Cup.
After being held 0-0 by Armed Forces, Penang coach Leo Vincey's young brigade beat Negri Sembilan 2-0 yesterday.
Nur Anis Adilah scored a penalty corner goal in the 29th minute while Farah Hanim Sobri made sure for Penang with a 52nd minute field goal.
"We are preparing this team for next year's Terengganu Malaysia Games which will revert to an Under-21 tournament from Under-23.
"So we have included many 16 and 17 year-old-players who are competing in their first Razak Cup, and could not score in their first match against Forces.
"But today (Thursday) they were more confident in taking their chances and its a moral-boosting win.
"We play Sabah next, and they have a mixed team of former internationals and youth. I expect it to be a tough encounter for my players," said Leo Vincey.
