KUALA LUMPUR: It is not the end of the world for seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton if he fails to register a single win this season.
The clock is ticking for the Briton with six more races to go as he tries to end his barren run.
Hamilton faces another tough race at the Singapore GP this weekend, but he is not pushing the panic button.
The 37-year-old said he would not let the possibility of a win-less season bother him.
Hamilton said he believes that the lessons learned from a "difficult season" will serve him well in the coming seasons.
"It has been a difficult season. With six more races, we will try to win but if it doesn't happen, it's not the end of the world," said Hamilton during a press conference after Petronas announced a multi-year partnership with Mercedes-AMG F1 in Kuala Lumpur today.
"We are keeping our fingers crossed for a positive race, we have done well to operate a car which had been a liability and developing for the upcoming season.
"We have been learning after every racing debrief and this year has been a year of growth… we have dominated for seven to eight years, and we will come back stronger."
Meanwhile, Mercedes-AMG Petronas Team Principal Toto Wolff said the extended partnership with Petronas from the 2026 season shows the longevity and loyalty between both parties.
Since 2010, the partnership has resulted in eight constructors' world championships and 115 Grand Prix victories.
The renewal also signals a commitment to a more sustainable future and the technical challenge presented by the 2026 power unit regulations.
"We are doing something a little bit unusual, announcing a partnership that will begin in four years. This sends an important message, our team and Petronas are no longer just partners, we are family, and we will be one team for many more years to come," said Wolf.
"From 2026, advanced sustainable fuel will be at the heart of F1 performance, and this gives us a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate our expertise in this domain, through both the power unit and Petronas Fluid Technology Solutions.
"We are excited to be racing into the future with the ambition to set the standard once again, in our on-track performance and by pioneering the transition of a global sports team to a net-zero future."
