KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia are geared up to face the challenges in this year’s FIT Touch World Cup.
The tournament will be held at the Putrajaya Equestrian Park on April 29-May 4.
Malaysia will be fielding teams in the men's 40, mixed open and women's open categories.
The three teams, know as Komandos are determined to create history in the World Cup.
The coaches are Firdaus Zailan (mixed open), Amir Affifuddin Amir Shariffuddin (men's 40) and Samsul Norazim Samsudin (women's open), who all have worked tirelessly to prepare their respective teams.
Although the women’s team have weaknesses, Samsul said it should not be used as an excuse during the tournament.
With many new faces in his team, his target is to record at least two wins at the World Cup.
He said: "My players must use this opportunity to strengthen their techniques in the game.
“This is the best exposure and experience for the younger players as they are competing against professionals,” said Samsul.
Fit Touch Malaysia (FTM) have high hopes in the mixed open and men’s 40 categories.
FTM general manager Ahmad Sufiani Johari said the players picked for both categories have the experience to produce good results.
“We have not set a target for both teams but we hope they will make the nation proud,” said Sufiani.
The three teams are training at the KL International School.
A total of 26 countries have registered for the World Cup comprising 11 categories.
