Tammy living her dream in Chengdu

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia finally won a World University Games gold after 38 years when wushu exponent Tammy Tan weaved her way into the history books at the Universiade gymnasium in Chengdu, China, today.

The glitter of gold is what the Malaysian contingent have been waiting for since the 1985 edition in Daegu, South Korea.

And Tammy is certainly living her dream in Chengdu which has a theme of "Chengdu makes dreams come true."

Tammy won the Qiangshu gold with 9.513 points while silver went to Weng Ian Wong from Macau on 9.593 points. Hong Kong's Lydia Sham was third with 9.583 points.

The Malaysian wushu team also met their three-medal target when Calvin Lee bagged bronze in the men's Nangun.

Calvin scored 9.653 points, only 0.1 points behind the silver medallist from Macau.
