KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit closed higher against the US dollar today, on better sentiment boosted by encouraging economic growth in the first quarter of this year amid improved investors’ confidence, said dealers. At 6pm, the local unit was quoted at 4.2910/2950 against the greenback from Tuesday’s close of 4.2920/2950. Malaysia’s first-quarter 2017 Gross Domestic Product growth of 5.6 per cent contributed to the upbeat sentiment for the local note, while the National Transformation Programme Annual Report 2016 launched yesterday indicated the venture capitalists’ trust in Malaysia as a top investment destination.
