KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) conducted a joint operation in Segambut yesterday to demolish illegal structures encroaching on public road reserves and confiscate business items placed in public areas.
The operation involved the police, Air Selangor, Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp), and Alam Flora.
"As a result of the operation, 10 premises with illegal extensions blocking drains and public pathways were demolished. Two other property owners pledged to dismantle the unauthorised extensions on their premises and clear the obstructions themselves," a DBKL statement on Facebook said.
The operation also led to the seizure of seven business items placed in public spaces under the Streets, Drainage, and Building Act 1974.
"One compound notice was issued under the Licensing of Trades, Businesses, and Industries (WPKL) By-Laws 2016," the statement added.
DBKL also demolished a modified residential unit built on a public road reserve without complying with approved plans.
"The debris was disposed of, while seized items were taken to the Jalan Lombong Seizure Storage Facility in Taman Miharja Cheras for documentation.
"DBKL will continue enforcement and monitoring efforts at identified hotspots," it said, urging the public to lodge complaints or provide information via official channels.
